Celebrate St. David’s Day At Longbow Pub & Pantry (Bay Ridge, Brooklyn)
If you are Welsh and you are reading this on March 1st, then you would also know that today is St. David’s Day, the Patron Saint of Wales. It was decided about 1421 years ago that people would celebrate ‘Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant’ (translated means Saintly Dude from the welsh valleys) on March 1st every year (although some churches may disagree by a day or so).
Not that you should need an excuse to head out to your local British Pub, but seeing as this is a special day in New Yorks cultural calendar, Salooned.com recommends heading over to the newly opened Longbow Pub & Pantry in Bay Ridge. Welshman and pub landlord, Michael Colbert will be offering wee drams of Penderyn, Wales’s finest whiskey, and bottles of Tomos Watkins Old Special Bitter. With 12 beers on draught including Old Speckled Hen, Tetley’s, and Fuller’s London Pride and over 30 bottles focusing on British and local craft beers, this is one bar that you should make the effort to go try out.
