19.2oz Pints + Full English Breakfast + Soccer. In Brooklyn = Heaven
The headline might be a little bias, as I am originally from the UK, but hey, they are serving up 20% more beer for the same price as you would pay at the other Brooklyn locals; whilst showing a healthy dose of world soccer (I hate to use the word soccer, but just found out that it was coined by the Brits in the first place…go figure) and also chowing down on a not so healthy serving of fried everything AKA Full English Breakfast (typically consisting of a mix of ingredients which may include sausage, bacon, eggs, grilled tomato, baked beans, fried bread, fried mushrooms and black or white pudding). As if this wasn’t enough, British chef Mick Baldwin will also be serving up a Sunday Roast with Yorkshire pudding at the weekends.
The Black Horse Pub (568 5th Ave at 16th St, Brooklyn) was due to open back in April, but it looks like they were a casualty of the State liquor Authority screwup (aka bribery investigations). More here. although I did pass by the other day and British owner, Brian McNally, seems to think that it could be a go this coming weekend (18th September). There was no definate date, so I would suggest you check their website http://www.blackhorsebrooklyn.com or follow me on Twitter for up to date news.
